“Those who are talking of zoning in Anambra State are lying. There is no zoning in Anambra State. Ngige, Obi, Ezeife, Mbadinuju have all ruled this state. If there were to be zoning there would have been said to be a term tenure to allow others to rule. Power is not conceded to anybody. Power comes from the people. So it is who the people chooses that will rule. Zoning will bring in an unpopular government .If Obi said it is zoned then he would have gone for a single term of four years but he went for a second term.”
He continued, “As for the type of person we want as next governor, everybody wants a people oriented governor who will continue with the development of the State. And of all the aspirants, it is only Patrick Ifeanyi Uba that has come to us and indicated his interest in the governorship seat. And we have endorsed him and I personally have also endorsed him. He has the brain, the qualities to run a government. We want him to bring those qualities with which he had successfully run his businesses to run the government of Anambra State. If he wins and becomes governor he would really do something positive.”
On his assessment of Governor Peter Obi’s administration, Oyeka said that the governor had done tremendously well but insisted that his effort in the education sector needed to improve in the aspect of employment of new teachers to replace the retired ones. A new government would start from where Obi stopped in March next year .What people want is road, electricity, water, free education, among others.
