The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission had on Wednesday, 7th of January, 2015 issued a restriction order to all broadcasting houses regarding the showing of the raving video, ‘Shoki’ by Lil Kesh.
According to the letter entitled Re: Shoki Lyrics (Muiscal Video by Lil Kash ft Davido and Olamide) and signed by Mrs Ijeoma Theo-Obodo for the director of Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, Lagos Zone, the video can now only be played on broadcasting stations between the hours of 10pm and 5am.
It reads, “I have been directed to inform all stations under the Lagos Zone that the above musical ‘Shoki’ by Lil Kesh featuring Davido and Olamide contains some connotations of foul impressions. This makes it highly suggestive of obscene representation and could corrupt the sensibilities of the impressionable – the underage.”
The later continued, “in view of the above, the musical in question can only be allowed on air during watershed period, that is between 10pm and 5am.”
“Stations are advised to adhere strictly to this provision of the code and ensure strict compliance please”.
